Southover Woods offers a unique holiday experience in beautiful woods and meadows with wilder camping in Dorset in well secluded spaces. There are a range of different experiences and activities aimed at enhancing your wellbeing through connecting with nature. Keeping life simple and looking after the environment are central to the ethos of the woods.
The woodlands extend to over 60 acres with 2 adjoining meadows, nestled in the South Dorset countryside. Only 20 minutes from the Jurassic coast, and connected by numerous bridleways and footpaths to both local and national walks, it is perfectly positioned for a wonderful break.

Need to Know:
Access to the campsite is via a woodland track which is about 1.5 miles long. Not suitable for sporty cars! From parking up, you are given wheelbarrows to get to your space to camp.
Remember to bring water containers & torches!
Check in is between 3pm & 6pm (2pm without meet & greet).

Pretty wild: an almost perfect location for families to try out a wilder camping experience. Hire out a space for your whole family (and friends!) for the weekend, leave the phones in the car & let the wild in for a bit.
From your space, you can wander through the woods. Chat to the team there & learn about local wildlife, flora & how to forage or look for animal tracks. Try hammock camping or do some campfire cooking. A unique place that inspires adventure.

Compost loos, outdoor showers, no electric - Southover has a real focus on a back to basics & as wild a family camping experience as you can imagine. Water is available at 3 standpipes.
Firepits are available & the team there can provide wood. There is a genuine passion for protecting the enviroment in Southover, so open your mind to learning about your impact on the woods. From lighting fires to using washing products, it will give you the tools to go even wilder still with your camping adventures.
