What an epic place! I had a great time and is definitely on my list of great wild camping spots.

Great spot right by the coast in the national park. It's in a field right by the south west coast path and a road that leads to one property. However, it was pretty quiet and only passed across 2 people during my 24h stay. The location is right next to a small stream so there is a water source nearby. Fair bit to do around and about if you're willing to walk a little. Can walk the coastal path, or other paths, and about 20mins to a nearby pub is a bus stop that can take you to Minehead or Lynton towns. Only thing is the space is a bit exposed being near the coast and not quite in the valley. So it can be pretty windy and not so easy to hide your tent from the main path and your tent will likely be visible my walkers along the path, but like I said, few people passed by. Otherwise a beautiful and quiet spot. Bare in mind steep downhill to the site, and steep uphill climb back to the carpark but short.

A nice place to camp with great facilities, friendly owners and ducks. Nice views from the top of the field, quiet and just about private enough, though you are a little overlooked by nearby houses. The field is on quite a slope and we found it hard to find a spot without grass hummocks that was flat enough for a 2 man tent.

Hayes Wood

My son and I really enjoyed our stay in Hayes Wood this August. We were lucky with the weather and had both beautiful sunset and sunrise. Being inside the wood, with the light streaming through in a pretty magical way. The instructions were clear, and the spot was clean and clear. As a site that gets used by schools (I believe), it's quite an easy camp and well set up with a fire pit and some logs set out to sit around. There is also a compost toilet that might benefit from a few instructions for those not so in the know ... but it was pretty clean and convenient! And, as always, it's a treat and privilege to have the place to ourselves. Very peaceful too (apart from the odd combine harvester working hard and the occasion plane overhead!). Thank you... and happy to recommend it

Nature

These are spaces in nature, almost entirely untouched. In fact some have seen only a handful of people in a generation. The lack of humans have ensured these spaces provide some of the most intimate experiences in the wild you can find now in England. All within a stone's throw of the life we all know.

A HANDSHAKE OF TRUST & RESPECT

When we set out on our CampWild project, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As it currently stands, only 8% of England has a right to roam & less than 0.2% has the right to wild camp. But with over 60,000,000 acres in the UK and with now well over 60,000,000 people living in them - where do we even start in our project to revolutionise access to nature?

The answer. Investing (a lot of) blood, sweat and pennies into building the infrastructure that puts our hosts first. Every little detail has been thought of to build a bridge of trust between our community and landowners, so they they can unlock their gates for the first time to the people who want to escape to the wild.

Our bespoke booking system, Code of Conduct, Snap In-Snap Out process, focus on education and passion for conservation puts a stake in the ground that our hosts can trust. We have already met dozens of incredible landowners who are revolutionising access to nature and we cannot wait to see how our network develops over the coming years.
