A really lovely spot, I was a little dismayed to find other campers on the right hand side of the meadow but we couldn’t see each other and they left after 1 night. The river is easily accessible to dogs, although less so for people! The canal was pretty and the dogs took a dip here too! It was very warm and sunny with very little shade and there are sheep grazing in the fields beyond the river. Lovely place and would return!

Gorgeous location, peaceful and quiet! My first solo camp with my dogs. Lots of deer in and around and the sense of privacy is perfect! Will definitely go back!

It's a lovely setting. The owners offered a gazebo as it was hot, but not needed. I had the whole field to myself, and chose the top of the hill which has a superb view over the whole valley heading out towards Ashbourne. Can park up next to your site (although this was extremely dry weather: I wouldn't fancy the bottom of the hill after some rain). Some road noise, but not too bad. The W3W address takes you to the wrong entryway to the farm: go back on the road, turn left, next left and you are there.

This is a very beautiful place and worth a visit. I share some of the previous reviews' points in that, the route card was not sufficient to find the camp. Some further detail about the track and knowledge of where the host wishes you to park would be helpful. We got unlucky with road accidents and closures, so got extra guidance from local pony club. I overestimated my physical capacity to get up and down the track and best if you have everything packed up well, on your back, efficient and light style (I had come from a family wedding and had too much distributed!) The meadow is long grass and bracken, so we pitched on the floor in front of the bothy. Was wonderful to dip in the river opposite in the morning. Sad not to have a fire, but of course, imperative not to and to keep all and everything safe in these extreme temperatures, drought and dryness. The toilet needs some sawdust or some such to make it 'compost', but yes, what a view. Thank you to the host and Campwild HQ for putting this place on the map. It was a cool experience - albeit a little challenging - for my partner's Birthday (he loved it). I would rate it as 4, rather than 2, for difficulty but conscious that is based on my accessibility needs.

RECONNECT WITH NATURE

20230922_111546.jpg

These are spaces in nature, almost entirely untouched. In fact some have seen only a handful of people in a generation. The lack of humans have ensured these spaces provide some of the most intimate experiences in the wild you can find now in England. All within a stone's throw of the life we all know.

A HANDSHAKE OF
TRUST & RESPECT

When we set out on our CampWild project, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As it currently stands, only 8% of England has a right to roam & less than 0.2% has the right to wild camp. But with over 60,000,000 acres in the UK and with now well over 60,000,000 people living in them - where do we even start in our project to revolutionise access to nature?

The answer. Investing (a lot of) blood, sweat and pennies into building the infrastructure that puts our hosts first. Every little detail has been thought of to build a bridge of trust between our community and landowners, so they they can unlock their gates for the first time to the people who want to escape to the wild.

Our bespoke booking system, Code of Conduct, Snap In-Snap Out process, focus on education and passion for conservation puts a stake in the ground that our hosts can trust. We have already met dozens of incredible landowners who are revolutionising access to nature and we cannot wait to see how our network develops over the coming years.
