I feel so lucky to have this amazing Wild Space only 25 minutes from home. I’ll definitely be returning again and again! It’s beautifully wild yet super accessible, with parking just steps away from the lake and three different wild spaces to enjoy. The short boat ride over to Beaver Lodge is such a fun and unique experience. The Wild Space itself is perfect—plenty of room for tents and hammocks, plus an ideal spot for a campfire. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful—you can reach out to them if you’re interested in rewilding projects during your stay, or even to purchase firewood. There’s also plenty to do locally, with Herstmonceux just a 5–10 minute drive away. This is an ideal spot to rest, chill out and enjoy nature. You’ll often see goats in a nearby field (who seem to love visitors!), along with geese, ducks, and plenty of birds. You must try this place out—you won’t regret it!

I had a truly lovely evening here. Parking is conveniently located just across from the field, making it easy to access. The wild meadows are absolutely beautiful—serene, open, and full of natural charm. I can only imagine how stunning it must look in spring when the meadows burst into even more vibrant colors. It’s a wonderfully peaceful place to unwind and connect with nature, and I’m already looking forward to visiting again.

This camp needs a lot better description of how to find the actual spot to pitch. The fence lines shown on os map and the screenshot from the host, do not match the fence lines on the ground. As such i mistakingly pitched in wrong place. Only later, while exploring did i find it. Its very well hidden behind low tree branches and a locked gate. The ground is level, but very lumpy. I couldn't find a spot at all i could lay down. As such i stayed where I was. Also, its really important to point out how close the train line is. With good ear plugs you may be ok. But 4x trains an hour until 1am, then again from 5am, meant a very poor sleep indeed. But.. it's a beautiful spot. Great views over to hope brink and kinder. Hope village 2x miles away. Nice pubs and shops. Be prepared with a thick airbed and good earplugs.

Loved this place. I’m often jealous of those that live up north or more towards Cornwall & Devon as I think it’s a more beautiful part of the country and better places to go camping, but when I stumbled across this wild space in Sussex where I live, I was thrilled! It got even better when I arrived as it’s truly a beautiful spot, easy to access, close to park the car, feel like you’re in with nature and wildlife. There is lots to do in the local area too with Herstmonceux Castle and the Observatory 5 miles down the road. I’ll be heading back here real soon

RECONNECT WITH NATURE

20230922_111546.jpg

These are spaces in nature, almost entirely untouched. In fact some have seen only a handful of people in a generation. The lack of humans have ensured these spaces provide some of the most intimate experiences in the wild you can find now in England. All within a stone's throw of the life we all know.

A HANDSHAKE OF
TRUST & RESPECT

When we set out on our CampWild project, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As it currently stands, only 8% of England has a right to roam & less than 0.2% has the right to wild camp. But with over 60,000,000 acres in the UK and with now well over 60,000,000 people living in them - where do we even start in our project to revolutionise access to nature?

The answer. Investing (a lot of) blood, sweat and pennies into building the infrastructure that puts our hosts first. Every little detail has been thought of to build a bridge of trust between our community and landowners, so they they can unlock their gates for the first time to the people who want to escape to the wild.

Our bespoke booking system, Code of Conduct, Snap In-Snap Out process, focus on education and passion for conservation puts a stake in the ground that our hosts can trust. We have already met dozens of incredible landowners who are revolutionising access to nature and we cannot wait to see how our network develops over the coming years.
