A really wonderful place with a fantastic, friendly and helpful host. We had a lovely tranquil canal side spot - a great nights adventure for me and my son. Great walk down the canal as well. It a lovely place to see wildlife and lots of farm animals too. We are going again as soon as possible. Thanks for a great stay.

This was my first ever camping booking, and I’m so glad I chose this place. It was the perfect introduction to wild camping—peaceful, simple, and exactly what I needed to ease into the experience. Falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the river and the surrounding woods was incredibly calming. I couldn’t have asked for a better first step into camping, and I’ll definitely be back.

I recently ran an introduction to wild camping course here at Stretton Hills and it was the perfect place for it. A stream for a water source, flat, wild grassland to pitch on and plenty nooks and crannies to explore. The camp spot is well away from the road so feels secluded and discreet and there is plenty of space for parking. The location is perfect for days out hiking in the Shropshire Hills particularly up onto the Long Mynd, the Lawley or Caer Caradoc. I will be returning!

My first CampWild experience, and won't be my last. I enjoyed having the site to myself, after being on a busy campsite the night before. Green Oaks was easy to find and access. Plenty of room to park a few vehicles. I only have a small tent, so was able to find a reasonably flat area to pitch it close to the parking. If you had a bigger tent or more than one tent, you would struggle. The site is perfect for smaller campervans/motorhomes, roof tents, car camping. The stone track beyond the parking area is actually blocked off by an old tractor, which is not shown in the photos. The site is quiet and rural, but the road going past (which is close, as the site is narrow) is busy at times (I will point out that I am used to very quiet rural locations with traffic rarely passing, so this did seem busy to me!). Absolutely fine, but don't expect complete peace. It is a lovely area in general, but also not great for going for a walk. You would need to walk on the road to get to footpaths. The one negative is that I suddenly was disturbed by a large German Shepherd dog appearing on the site in the evening. It tried to get in my tent, nearly knocked over my stove and was generally annoying. A lady did appear from the track below the camping area and struggled to call it away. She didn't interact with me at all, apart from muttering about not being welcoming to her large/muddy dog. I don't know why she was walking with her dog on private land. I hope she was not the site owner, as she definitely should have known I was there and given me privacy.

RECONNECT WITH NATURE

20230922_111546.jpg

These are spaces in nature, almost entirely untouched. In fact some have seen only a handful of people in a generation. The lack of humans have ensured these spaces provide some of the most intimate experiences in the wild you can find now in England. All within a stone's throw of the life we all know.

A HANDSHAKE OF
TRUST & RESPECT

When we set out on our CampWild project, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As it currently stands, only 8% of England has a right to roam & less than 0.2% has the right to wild camp. But with over 60,000,000 acres in the UK and with now well over 60,000,000 people living in them - where do we even start in our project to revolutionise access to nature?

The answer. Investing (a lot of) blood, sweat and pennies into building the infrastructure that puts our hosts first. Every little detail has been thought of to build a bridge of trust between our community and landowners, so they they can unlock their gates for the first time to the people who want to escape to the wild.

Our bespoke booking system, Code of Conduct, Snap In-Snap Out process, focus on education and passion for conservation puts a stake in the ground that our hosts can trust. We have already met dozens of incredible landowners who are revolutionising access to nature and we cannot wait to see how our network develops over the coming years.
